Nidhi Rana is pursuing her Ph.D from SGRR University and Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. Her thesis entitled "Ecological study of Fireflies in Doon Valley, Uttarakhand with Impact analysis of Anthropogenic activities" focuses on documenting the diversity of fireflies of Doon valley. To support her research work, she received two small research grants from The Rufford Foundation (2021 & 2023). A citizen science approach has been adopted to sensitized the community about the importance of firefly as bioindicator of clean habitat and ecosystem. Stakeholders, local community/school children and volunteers have been engaged under the project for the conservation of firefly. Her work acquired the opportunity to present her research findings at the global forum in the International Mountain Conference at University Innsbruck, Austria in September 2022.
