Master and Ph.D in Social Science (1995-2001). Thesis on: Sociological study on modernization in urban women of Himachal Pradesh (special reference to Kullu). She is Associated with Navdanya (Biodiversity Based Organic Farming) since last two decades. Her field of excellence on women empowerment, socioeconomic studies and documentation of traditional knowledge and rural biodiversity. Main area of her research on socioeconomic aspects of women, indigenous knowledge and traditional use of medicinal plants by rural women, documentation of rural biodiversity and sustainable development in the Indian Himalayan states. She has supervised more than twenty research projects on women empowerment, indigenous knowledge, biodiversity assessment and conservation and documentation from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Uttarankhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST). She has participated her research findings globally in different international conferences in International Union of Forest Research Organization (IUFRO), Forestry Conference at Seoul, South Korea; International Conference, Innovation and Sustainability Transitions in Asia, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Conference on Mountain of our Future Earth, University of Perth, Scotland; International Mountain Futures Conference at Kunming, China and International Mountain Conference at University of Innsbruck, Austria in 2019 and 2022. She also visited and interacted various International Museums for consultation of biodiversity resources and their conservation in Natural History Museum London, Royal Botanical Garden Kew, London, National Museum of Natural History Paris and Natural History Museum Athens, Greece. She also visited different parts of Slovenia and Croatia to study their biological, historical, socioeconomic and cultural aspects.
